Capt. Alec Dark Water Dive Knife
The Capt Alec. Dark Water is a premium quality dive knife. Designed by John Coffman of Dragonfly Bladeworks and made as a collaboration piece with Due South Knives, this is the ultimate in dive knives. The blade is a reverse tanto shape, with a flat saber grind, but we have left significant mass in the tip to aid in strength as divers often need to use their knife to pry. Top serrations are ground into a groove for cutting fishing line or other things that may entangle a diver. The handle material is made with contrasting colors of micarta and G10 so that the knife would be easily visible if dropped on a variety of colors and surfaces. The knife is a full tang with a small portion of the heel extending past the sculpted handle material in order to provide a hardened strike-plate for the user to hit something if needed. We provide each knife with a custom fitted kydex sheath and a Leo Combat clip, which enables the user to attach in a variety of applications. The Dark Water uses 1/8″ AEBL, as this is a great choice of steel for good corrosion resistance and salt water environments and would also be easy to sharpen in the field or boat.
This knife was designed in consultation with dark water diving expert, Captain Alec Blalock of Bishopville, SC. Captain Alec is the proprietor and operator of The Swamp Log Artisans Gallery, which specializes in hand-crafted items made from reclaimed sinker cypress. As a lifelong dark water diver in the artifact recovery business, Alec’s expertise provided us with superb design specifications for this amazing knife.
